Responsible Choice
Constructed above ground to protect the flora, fauna, and sand hills, Sal Salis Ningaloo Reef is an exclusive safari camp hidden in the white sand dunes of western Australia's South Mandu Beach in Cape Range National Park.
Spacious wilderness tents are a short distance from the water's edge and the world's greatest fringing coastal coral reef. The tents offer a supremely comfortable bed, large soft bath towels and an en suite bathroom, featuring organic cotton and chemical-free linen. They are without telephones, TVs, or other modern appliances to enable the camp to operate in tune with the fragile natural environment of the Cape Range National Park. Almost 100% of the camp’s power is solar power generated, and the en suites feature composting waterless toilets and you’ll have three minutes in which to shower.
The main camp building is set above the sand and coastal scrub and offers wonderful views of the reef and breakers beyond. Dinner is contemporary Australian cuisine, which is prepared by the onsite chef, while breakfast and lunch are more informal with breakfast sometimes taken on the beach. Guests are encouraged to help themselves to the self-service bar at any time; be it a Margaret River white wine, a gin and tonic, an ice-cold beer, or a soft drink. The bar and open lounge area provides a wonderful spot to sit out the heat of the day or enjoy a quiet sundowner. Although there is a daily limit of 20 litres of water per adult for washing to protect the pristine environment in which the camp is located, there is unlimited drinking water available on site and to take on excursions.
