When I was 17, I volunteered in South Africa during the summer and was lucky to be engaged in family empowerment, community development and pre-school learning programs. While on this trip I had the opportunity to be immersed in the community culture visiting high schools, creches and family homes. I loved working with the children as despite the language barrier, we were able to communicate by relying mostly on facial expressions and body language and this made the experience so valuable and educational.
I was also fortunate to be able to go on a safari and do some whale watching. This experience inspired me to do some more traveling as I think you learn the most when you get out of your comfort zone.
While at university I studied International Relations which fuelled my interest in the history, traditions, and practices of other cultures further. After university, I took a year to travel in Southeast Asia including Thailand, Vietnam and Cambodia and spent a few months exploring Europe. I loved these experiences so much and I'm excited to put together similar adventures for my clients.

Q&A with Georgia
What’s the best local dish you’ve tasted?
One of Indonesia’s national dishes called Nasi Goreng served with satay chicken, a fried egg and some prawn crackers is my go-to order. It’s a fried rice dish with vegetables and sometimes meat or prawns which caramelize as they cook. It gets most of it flavor from garlic, shallots, and sweet soy sauce. One of my favorite things about Nasi Goreng is its simplicity, there is no single defined recipe so people can get creative with it. Its composition and preparation vary greatly from household to household, so it’s always got a personalized touch.
What’s your most vivid travel moment?
I was on the back of a motorbike winding my way through the mountains in Northern Vietnam, surrounded by vegetation and mist. Having packed for the hot and humid tropics that most people picture when thinking of Vietnam, I was wearing every item of clothing I had while doing the Ha Giang loop over New Year. I was worried my impulsive decision was a mistake as I was holding on for dear life on the narrow, damaged roads overlooking the steep cliff edges. We swerved around a sharp bend and finally we emerged out of the mist with a view overlooking some remote villages and a deep blue river slicing its way through the mountains — at that point I knew it was worth it.
Where would you love to travel next?
I’d love to go to Madeira as I love hiking and I’ve heard it being referred to as the Hawaii of Europe so that alone is enough to convince me. I can picture myself breathing in the fresh air at the Balcoes viewpoint which looks over the Ribeira da Metade Valley covered in Laurissilva forest.
