Originally a 12th-century convent, the H么tel des Augustins offers characterful yet simple rooms and friendly service. The atmospheric reception area was once the chapel of the convent and maintains its heritage with thick stone walls, vaulted ceilings and stained-glass windows. Located in the heart of Aix-en-Provence, in the picturesque old town, the H么tel des Augustins is an ideal base for exploring the winding cobbled streets lined with shops and restaurants as well the Mus茅e Granet. Rooms here are simple yet comfortable, painted with a palette of Proven莽al shades, and have conveniences such as Wi-Fi and air conditioning.

OUR OPINION:

Although the rooms are simple in style, the thick stone walls of the chapel, which now serves as the lobby, and the friendly service on offer here more than make up for it. The H么tel des Augustins also has an ideal location in the heart of the old town close to lots of restaurants and bustling squares.

Rooms

Rooms here are simple yet comfortable with wooden beams, typical Proven莽al shades and small paintings of local scenes on the walls. Some higher room categories have private terraces, and all rooms come equipped with modern conveniences such as air conditioning and Wi-Fi. The bathrooms, although compact, have generous showers, while higher room categories feature separate baths.

Location

The H么tel des Augustins, in the old town in Aix-en-Provence, is within walking distance of local independent boutiques and lively restaurants. The train station, which connects to Avignon to Nice on the French Riviera and Paris in the north, is a 15-minute drive away. Mus茅e Granet, home to many C茅zanne paintings, is also just a short walk away.

Food and drink
