Misty Fjords National Monument

Misty Fjords National Monument covers more than 800,000 hectares of wilderness on the southern tip of the Alaska Panhandle, and is part of a vast coastal rainforest which can receive 400 centimetres of rain annually.

The region is marked by deep valleys, massive sea cliffs, tumbling waterfalls and sharp ridges formed by volcanic activity and glaciation. The slopes appear to be an unbroken carpet of cedar, spruce and hemlock whilst above the timberline lie alpine heaths and grasses. Numerous fjords along the granite edges of this dramatic wilderness are the perfect setting for a breathtakingly beautiful cruise among old lava floes and extensive glaciers.

A cruise on a comfortable touring yacht is the perfect way to discover this wilderness region, whilst returning on a thrilling light aircraft flight provides you with the perfect way to see this dramatic area from both perspectives.
