My love for travel, and more specifically Africa, first started when I travelled to South Africa for the first time on a school trip. I spent three and a half weeks touring the Eastern and Western Cape. As well as exploring the breathtaking landscapes and learning more about the wildlife, I met many inspiring people along the way. Most recently I’ve been lucky to travel extensively around Namibia, visiting the world’s largest sand dunes in Sossusvlei, kayaking with seals along the coast and exploring the silvery salt pans of Etosha National Park. Namibia really is like no other Africa safari destination, which is why it has become one of my favourites.
My passion for travel encouraged me to study tourism at university. This enabled me to learn more about the industry, most importantly identifying both the challenges and opportunities that arise within travel. I started my first job in the industry working for a tour operator within their reservations team. It wasn’t long before I realised, I wanted to specialise in a destination that I felt most passionate about. Here at Audley, I’m able to do this, and I’m very excited to share my love of Namibia with those who wish to see and experience all it has to offer.

Q&A with Megan
What鈥檚 the one thing you always pack?
Binoculars are a must. They鈥檙e like your personal window into the wild. With them, you can see the incredible wildlife, and never miss a thing. Having binoculars with you while on a game drive is super important because they let you capture unforgettable moments that you鈥檒l cherish forever.
What鈥檚 your most vivid travel moment?
One of my most vivid and memorable travel moments was leopard tracking during an afternoon game drive. My guide took me out into the depth of the bush where we had the amazing opportunity to get close to a father and son who were feasting on a baby giraffe they had recently caught. It was fascinating to watch the father leopard asserting his dominance by eating first and making his son wait. The adolescent showed patience but started to cry out to get the attention of his father. He gradually got closer and closer to him, continuing to make noises to show his hunger. Suddenly, there was a huge roar from the father, the son immediately backed off and continued to wait patiently while also keeping an eye out for any surrounding wildlife. As my guide took me back onto the main area of the reserve, I saw the mother giraffe in the distance looking desperately for her baby. Being so close and watching this moment unfold in real time is truly something I will never forget.
Your best piece of travel advice?
I think one of the best pieces of travel advice I could give is living in the moment. Sometimes it鈥檚 easy to get caught up taking the perfect picture that we actually forget to fully experience the moment right in front of us. For me, it鈥檚 finding the balance between capturing memories and immersing myself in the real-time experiences. By being present in the moment, you鈥檒l create memories that go beyond just photographs.
