Hotel Amigo

Brussels, Belgium

With original artworks by renowned artists, excellent dining options and top-level concierge service, the Hotel Amigo offers the height of elegance in the heart of Brussels’ historic district.

Built in the 16th century, the brick façade of this former prison is one of the less-impressive ones in the block of stately white stone buildings known as the Grand Place. But the building was refurbished in 1958 as a hotel for the World’s Fair, then brought to its present state at the turn of the millennium. Now a frequent host to celebrities and heads of state, the hotel is one of the most desirable in the country.

Inside, the hotel creates a sense of contemporary elegance while retaining a small, intimate feel. The lobby, restaurants and rooms have been individually designed, with embroidered silk curtains, polished wood floors, comfortable furniture with bold patterns and shades, and original artworks by Magritte, Goossens and Broodthaers.

With the excellent Ristorante Bocconi providing Italian-inspired cuisine within its cool teal walls, and the warm russet and gold interior of the lounge, Bar A, the Hotel Amigo provides plenty of space and time to relax after a day of sightseeing in the capital.

OUR OPINION:

With top levels of service, thoughtfully designed rooms and a central location, the Hotel Amigo is our preference for a deluxe stay in Brussels.

Rooms

The hotel’s rooms and suites both come in Classic, Deluxe and Executive types, along with Junior suites and two special suites, the Rene Magritte and the Armand Blaton.

The rooms mainly differ in size, with the Deluxe and Executive both offering more space than the Classic. The decor features warm hues and striped accents, marble bathrooms and artwork like prints from The Adventures of Tintin. The suites offer separate sitting rooms, with each step up offering more space and finer details like guest powder rooms and double sinks.

The Rene Magritte suite offers extra space, comfort and whimsy, and includes bolder hues, a mosaic-tiled bathroom and original Magritte lithographs. The Armand Blaton is the exclusive top-floor suite, with full kitchen and dining room, fireplace and private terrace.

All rooms include en suite bathrooms, air conditioning, Wi-Fi, plasma TVs and boutique toiletries.

Location

The Hotel Amigo sits on a corner of the Grand Place, the historic heart of Brussels. The area is rich with restaurants, chocolatiers, galleries and shopping, and the elegant 14th-century guildhall buildings are steps away.
