Kingfisher Wilderness Adventures is a multi-day kayaking trip into the islands north of Vancouver Island. The tour provides an intimate, adventurous look at the area and the wealth of marine life that call it home.
With spacious, platformed tents, hearty, fresh cooked food, and an extensive collection of natural history books, the camp provides a comfortable base for exploring. The area is visited by orca and humpback whales, seabirds, seals, eagles, and grizzly bears so there will be plenty of opportunity for wildlife viewing while listening to the cultural history of the Great Bear Rainforest.
While rustic, this is a special experience where you’ll be able to get up close and personal with the wildlife of the area and is a proper marine adventure.

Rooms
This is a rustic, adventure experience so accommodation is in canvas tents. Raised on wooden platforms, your spacious tent comfortably accommodates two people, with a standing height of nearly 2 m (6.5 ft). The tent's wooden beds are kitted out with sheets, blankets and sleeping bags, and thick mattresses. Hot water bottles are also available if you need them. Bathrooms are shared facilities and include a safari-style bucket shower. As the camp is off-the-grid, there’s no electricity in the tents, but guests are able to charge cameras and phones.
Location
Basecamp is located about a 45-minute water taxi ride from Port McNeill on the north side of Vancouver Island. Surrounded by waterways, islands and islets, the camp makes for a scenic base. It’s also located on orca travel routes and humpback feeding grounds, so guests are likely to catch a glimpse of wildlife from their tents as they wake or are enjoying dinner.
Food and drink
All meals are included during this multi-day experience from breakfast on day one to lunch on day four. Your hearty meals are served in the camp's covered dining area, and lunch is typically on a secluded beach during your kayaking days. Food is locally sourced and as fresh as possible, with an emphasis on being comforting and filling for all your physical activity.
