Frozen waterfall ice climbing experience
Learn how to safely navigate yourself up a frozen waterfall, using ice axes and crampons, experiencing one of the most exhilarating Canadian winter activities.
Today, take a guided tour along the trails at the edge of Maligne Canyon, before heading down onto the frozen creek bed. Before leaving Jasper, you’ll stop off at an outdoor clothing shop where you’ll be given a helmet and ice cleats. You’ll then be driven for 15 minutes to reach Maligne Canyon, which is the deepest accessible canyon in Jasper National Park, where you’ll explore frozen waterfalls, ice caves and ice formations.
Your guide will pass on their knowledge about Jasper’s Maligne Valley, karst topography, and the mystery of the so-called disappearing Medicine Lake. The tour ends by coming out of the canyon, passing Bridal Veil falls and walking along the side of the Maligne River.
