Beijing City Tour
Beijing City Tour
To really experience Beijing you need to get out onto the streets. The Forbidden City is one of the most fascinating places in Beijing and is well worth a visit.
Located in the Haidian district in the north of Beijing, the Palace is a classical imperial garden embracing beautiful landscaped hills and lakes. It was used as the official summer residence by the imperial families of the Qing Dynasty.
Although government affairs were handled here, the Palace鈥檚 main purpose was to provide an idyllic and peaceful retreat for relaxation and play away from the heat of the city.
There are thousands of fascinating sights located among the calm lakes and wooded hills. These include the 700 metre 鈥淟ong Corridor鈥 decorated with Chinese mythical scenes, the 鈥淏enevolence & Longevity Hall鈥 where the emperor in residence greeted special envoys and handled state affairs, and Longevity Hill which offers a marvellous panorama of Kunming Lake. There is even a Marble Boat, restored by the Empress Dowager in 1888.
These activities are designed to give you the most authentic experiences around where you're staying. We work with local guides, who use their knowledge and often a resident's eye to show you the main sights and more out-of-the-way attractions. Our specialists can suggest tours and activities that will introduce you to the local ways of life.
