Rooms
There are 15 simple, safari-style tents at Isla Chiquita, each raised up from the ground on wooden platforms and surrounded by palm trees. The tents can accommodate up to three people and are furnished with a large double bed as well as a daybed lounger. Your private bathroom has twin sinks, and there are two ceiling fans to keep you cool. Water is heated using solar energy to ensure minimal environmental impact. Outside, you can sit on your spacious deck and take in views through the trees and out to sea at any time of the day.
Location
Located right on the beach, just off the Gulf of Nicoya, Isla Chiquita is accessed from the port of Puntarenas by taking a 75-minute public ferry journey over to Paquera. You'll then be picked up and taken to Isla Chiquita by motorboat.
Food and drink
Breakfast is served buffet-style with a wide range of options, from continental and American dishes to Costa Rican specialties. The lodge has two restaurants: Donde Tía Nora is a waterfront restaurant that offers daily caught fish and seafood in addition to a variety of international and Costa Rican dishes, while Harry’s Bar & Restaurant is situated in the main lobby area, serving drinks and light snacks.
Facilities and activities
The lodge is surrounded by a protected area of forest where you can take a bioluminescence night tour (kayaking on water that glows turquoise thanks to the plankton within it), stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking and snorkelling tours, artisanal fishing, sunset cruises, island-hopping around the gulf and a guided nature walk in the nearby Curu Wildlife Reserve. Guests also have complimentary use of kayaks and stand-up paddleboards to explore the surrounding areas independently.
