Responsible Choice
Overlooking the scenic blackwater Pichicocha Lake, Sacha Lodge is a comfortable and ecologically aware property. Guests will stay in one of 26 comfortable cabins, each with a private terrace positioned to take in as unobtrusive as possible amidst the dense jungle vegetation. All feature high thatched roofs, private facilities, ceiling fans, air conditioning and hammocks. As well as canoe excursions and jungle walks with specialist guides, guests at Sacha Lodge can also enjoy the canopy observation tower and a long canopy walkway that winds through the treetops.
In their 30 years of operation, Sacha Lodge has protected around 5,000 acres of rainforest. In 2010, the reserve was officially declared a Private Protected Forest by the Ecuadorian Ministry of Environment, granting it the same level of protection as a State-protected area and demonstrating their long-term commitment to conservation.
The lodge has taken many other initiatives to protect the local habitat and people by treating all wastewater, rehabilitating animals, hiring from local communities, and sourcing food locally.

A stay at the Minga Lodge offers a unique opportunity to get to grips with what life is really like in the Amazon. Culturally, this is far more in-depth, interactive and rewarding than a regular Amazon visit and allows you to spend time with the local community during your stay.
