The Excelsior by Geisel offers its guest a warm, country-house-style stay in the heart of Munich. Located just steps from the city鈥檚 main train station and a short walk from sites like Stachus and Frauenkirche, it鈥檚 a good base from which to explore the city.

Though centrally located, the hotel is down a quiet street with soundproof windows to ensure a restful sleep. A family-owned hotel, the Excelsior welcomes you with a large warm wooden lobby desk, elegant French doors and marble steps with wrought-iron bannisters.

The hotel offers 114 rooms and suites that exude Bavarian charm with pastel-hued bathrooms, warm red-and-cream upholstery and antique furniture. It鈥檚 also home to Vinothek, a wine bar and restaurant that offers homemade pasta and other Mediterranean dishes.

We love the authentic Bavarian feel of this hotel and the details of the decor. The staff鈥檚 hospitality and the central location to Munich鈥檚 sites make it a great base for exploring the city.

Rooms

There are 114 rooms and suites, all decorated in the traditional Bavarian style, with pine wood and plaid upholstery. The rooms range from more standard-sized double rooms, to the Excelsior Suite, which is designed with a 1950s theme, but equipped with modern amenities such as satellite TV and a coffee machine.

Wi-Fi, air conditioning and en suite bathrooms come standard throughout. The rooms all also have soundproofed windows to ensure you鈥檙e not bothered by any street noise.聽

Location

The Excelsior is located on a quiet street in the heart of Munich, just a five-minute walk to the city鈥檚 old town. It鈥檚 also just around the corner from the main train station, giving you easy access to the entire city. Stachus, home to the city鈥檚 ornate court building, and Frauenkirche, the distinctive red-brick Gothic church, are within walking distance as well.
