Experience Corfiot cuisine in the heart of the architectural landmarks of Corfu Old Town.
Along every winding, narrow street in Corfu Old Town you’ll find an architectural highlight of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. And sprinkled among them are cherished cafes and delicatessens, brimming with intriguing ingredients. Much of Corfiot culture revolves around food, and its cuisine — like its architecture — is a rich medley of Venetian and Greek influences. The best way to explore both is on foot, and this tour gives you the opportunity to meander your way through the warren of alleyways, dipping in and out of specialist food stores.
You can choose to meet your private guide directly at your hotel or in Corfu Old Town itself. As you stroll around the culinary highlights of the city, your guide will combine history with gastronomy and enlighten you on the stories behind the landmark buildings you pass, and the importance of food in the Corfiot culture. You’ll have the opportunity to taste local delicacies and talk with the owners of specialist shops about the key ingredients and dishes in Corfiot cuisine such as Sofrito, tender veal slow-cooked in a garlicky white wine sauce, or Gialetia, Corfu’s speciality corn pancakes, served with fresh, local honey.
Following your walking tour, you’ll join your guide for a traditional light meze lunch, where you can enjoy some of the island’s specialities, and experience local Corfiot cafe life.
