Begin your exploration of Lake Atitlán by taking the kayaks to paddle through Santiago Bay where you pass by the local Tzutujil Maya people working in the fields, washing clothes and fishing from their unique wooden boats.
After about an hour you will stop kayaking and enjoy a one- to two-hour hike up and across patchwork agricultural fields for wonderful views of the lake and its surrounding volcanoes.
Your trip ends back at Santiago de Atitlán from where you return to your hotel. Please note that this is a fairly physical day trip so you do need a good level of fitness to participate.
