A contemporary and welcoming base from which to explore the glaciers, volcanoes, waterfalls, lagoons, and black sand beaches that define Iceland’s south coast, Hótel Vík is just a two-hour drive from Reykjavík.
Behind the glass-faced modern façade, the 88 guest rooms housed in the old and new buildings all have sleek Scandinavian style decor, hues of grey, blue, and cream, hardwood flooring, plenty of natural light, and views of the cliff or Reynisdrangar’s black sand beach and sea stacks. Modern amenities include flat-screen TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi, tea and coffee-making facilities, and en suite bathrooms with large walk-in rain showers.
Elsewhere, there’s a restaurant for inspiring Icelandic cuisine using fresh and local ingredients, a lobby bar for cocktails, wine, and beer, and an ocean-facing outdoor terrace for summer drinks. The hotel also hosts a daily happy hour from 4pm to 6pm. Staff are happy to help with sightseeing suggestions and tour bookings, including visits to the Eyjafjallajökull volcano, Sólheimajökull glacier, and Skógafoss and Seljalandsfoss waterfalls.
Not only does this contemporary hotel hit the mark for Scandinavian style decor and creative Icelandic cuisine, but it also offers some spectacular nearby sights. We love being so close to Reynisdrangar’s black sand beach.
