Kings Lodge is set in 48,500 sq m (522,000 sq ft) of sal forest, a short drive from the entry gate into Bandhavgarh National Park. With just 18 cottages, the property also has a library, swimming pool and watchtower.
Kings Lodge trains local villagers as naturalists and camp staff. Their vision is that the forest dwellers are the genuine protectors of wildlife if guided correctly, which is supported by the whole team. The naturalists are particularly good here, with a wealth of knowledge and experience in tracking and wildlife conservation.
Kings Lodge occupies an excellent location to explore the nearby national park and offers a delightful base to relax and enjoy local food, and thoughtful service.

Rooms
Kings Lodge comprises ten cottages and eight stilt cottages each with modern en suite bathrooms. Each stilt unit has a wooden lofted balcony. All rooms are well appointed and decorated with tribal art, giving the lodge a jungle feel, and it has been built to blend with the surrounding landscape using eco-sensitive policies. Toiletries are offered in glass jars to avoid unneeded plastic.
Location
Just 10 minutes’ drive to the Tala entrance gate into Bandhavgarh National Park, home to the largest tiger population in central India. The lodge’s land is naturally forested, with 95% covered in trees, allowing for a tranquil, disconnected feel.
Food and drink
All meals are made from scratch and ingredients are sourced locally. Guests can enjoy traditional thali, a meal of small dishes including daal, vegetables and cooked meat alongside salads and chutneys. Private dinners can be arranged under the stars, and breakfast can be enjoyed at the lodge’s organic farm, surrounded by the ingredients in your meal.
Environmental and social responsibility
Kings Lodge has successfully eliminated single-use plastics. Sustainability training is regularly given to managers and staff, and a large proportion of their team is composed of local people in key roles, contributing to the betterment of the local community through education and employment opportunities.
Alternative places to stay nearby
Where possible, we like to offer a range of accommodation for each stop of your trip, chosen by our specialists as some of their favourite places to stay. To help you make the right choice, we give each property a rating based on its facilities and service, but we also look for hotels with distinct character or a location that can't be bettered.
