Wapa Di Ume, Ubud

Wapa Di Ume

Ubud, Indonesia

The Wapa Di Ume was designed by Balinese architect I Ketut Siadana, who has aimed to emanate a traditional Balinese feel in the design of the property.

Each room has been traditionally furnished and some have typical Balinese thatched roofs, with all of them enjoying picturesque views of the surrounding countryside. Guests can relax by the two-tiered swimming pool or in the spa, while a variety of activities are organised by the resort for the more active.

Dining at the restaurant allows guests to look out over the lush green rice paddy fields, which create a peaceful ambiance which makes it easy to forget that the town centre is just minutes away.

OUR OPINION:

Wapa Di Ume is a great boutique option for guests looking for a convenient base near Ubud, whilst still being in a rural setting. It's one of our favourite properties in the area, consistently receiving positive feedback due to its friendly service and attractive location.

Rooms

There are several different accommodation options, either scattered across the hillside or nestled beside the river. The traditional Lanai rooms offer a mixture of king and twin beds. All have a sunken bath and enjoy views of the surrounding countryside, with some featuring a balcony. The Di Ume Suites have a similar layout to the Lanai rooms, but have extra space, a sofa bed and a larger balcony area.

The Pool Villas each offer a private garden area with prime views around the surrounding countryside, along with daybeds, sunken baths and large balconies. The two-storey Family Villa has a king bedroom and twin bedroom, as well as space for two extra beds and its own pool. There's also the two bedroom Terrace Villa and the three bedroom Wapa Villa, which are both great options for larger groups or families, with the Wapa Villa even having its own infinity pool.

Location

The resort is located in a rural setting just off Jalan Suweta. It's two kilometres north of Ubud鈥檚 bustling town centre, where guests will find local restaurants, markets and shops.

Food and drink

As with the vast majority of properties in Bali, the Wapa Di Ume is predominantly a bed and breakfast option, but should guests wish to enjoy lunch and dinner at the hotel during their stay, food can be ordered on an 脿 la carte basis. The restaurant has two levels, both of which command excellent views of the surrounding countryside, and offers a combination of Balinese and Western dishes. Complimentary afternoon tea can also be enjoyed each day on the upper level of the restaurant. As an alternative, guests can easily head into the town centre to explore some of the local eateries.

Facilities and activities

The resort provides a good range of facilities and activities for guests, offering cookery courses where guests can try their hand at Balinese cooking in the open-air kitchen, complimentary yoga sessions and guided treks in the rice paddy fields. There's also an open-air amphitheatre where guests can watch performances over dinner on certain days. A free shuttle bus operates between the resort and Ubud regularly throughout the day, and a laundry/dry cleaning service is also available. Guests can make use of the spa, tiered swimming pool, boutique shop and complimentary Wi-Fi, while the Wapa lounge provides a peaceful place to relax while looking out over the river.

Environmental and social responsibility

The resort aims to be as environmentally friendly as possible, and derives many of its design elements from nature. Toiletries are made from locally derived organic materials, and the gardens produce organic ingredients for the restaurant's dishes.
