Mushara Lodge, Etosha National Park

Mushara Lodge

Etosha National Park, Namibia

The first of Mushara’s properties, Mushara Lodge is owned by Marc and Mariza Pampe, whose family were cattle farmers in eastern Namibia. Named after the trees which grow around the lodge’s grounds, Mushara has a peaceful setting.

The main lodge houses an impressive dining room, lounge and bar, with skylights making this a light and airy space in which to unwind. High thatched ceilings and old wooden beams give the property a traditional feel, while the large fireplace and low leather chairs create warmth and comfort to return to after spending the day out in the bush. In the evening, enjoy sundowners in the boma area with your fellow guests.

OUR OPINION:

Mushara is very comfortable and well located for Etosha. We found that the lounge is a great place to relax with a book or share your experiences. The rooms, service and food are excellent.

Rooms

Accommodation is in just a small number of spacious stone and thatch chalets, which are set around the large lawn and swimming pool. They feature double, single or twin beds, and some are set up as triples. Their dark wood furniture is complemented by pale linens, while air conditioning and mosquito nets ensure your stay is comfortable. The en suite bathrooms are spacious and feature either just a shower or a bathtub and shower. Further amenities in each chalet include a minibar, safe, tea/coffee making facilities, power sockets for charging batteries and Wi-Fi access. There’s also a Family House, which features two separate bedrooms and a shared lounge.

Location

Mushara is situated eight kilometres — or a ten-minute drive — from Etosha National Park's Von Lindequist Gate, which is on the park’s eastern boundary. Etosha spans an area of 22,270 square kilometres, centred around a 4,731 square kilometre salt pan — the largest in Africa. It’s home to a wide array of wildlife, including 114 mammal species, 110 reptile species, 16 amphibian species and 340 bird species.

Food and drink

Meals are served in the dining area or can be enjoyed alfresco in the boma area. Food consists of tasty African and international dishes. The camp has its own wine cellar and bar, and sundowners can be enjoyed around the campfire as you socialise with fellow guests.

Families

Families can stay in the two bedroom Family House.

Facilities and activities

Guests can make use of the large swimming pool in the grounds, where you’ll also find loungers and a pavilion with seating. There’s also a curio shop, a library and a lounge with cosy fireplace. Days are spent out on game drives exploring Etosha’s wildlife, which includes lion, giraffe, black-backed jackal, wildebeest, zebra and springbok. The experienced guides receive up-to-date information about the whereabouts of game, ensuring excellent views from your open 4x4.
