Oliver's Camp is an excellent bushcamp consisting of ten furnished tents located right in the heart of Tarangire National Park, near the Minyonyo Pools. The camp is unpretentious yet at the same time, very comfortable. The guides and hosts here are extremely personable and knowledgeable; the emphasis on substance over style is underscored by their excellent guiding and a superb library of natural history books.
In the evenings, guests gather around the campfire to share stories of their day on safari with a cool drink, and dining is either under the stars or in the cosy dining tent (depending on the weather). Activities from the camp include game drives, night drives, walking safaris and fly-camping.
Oliver's is a superb little camp and arguably the nicest in Tarangire. The camp itself is really comfortable and stylish in design, and the location is superb for exploring this pretty national park. We found that the guides are absolutely superb, ensuring you have the best chances of seeing the wildlife here.

Rooms
Each of the luxury tents are nice and spacious, furnished with wooden furniture and crisp linens. All have en suite bathrooms and a large wooden deck where you can relax along with thatched roofs to keep off the heat in the middle of the day. A particularly nice feature of the tents is the outdoor shower, surrounded by a reed wall, which gives you the feeling of really being in the heart of the bush. All the tents are well spaced to ensure maximum privacy.
Location
Set deep in the heart of Tarangire National Park, Oliver’s Camp is far enough from the entrance and the park’s other camps, to offer a real sense of remoteness. The game driving in the area is excellent and makes for a very rewarding first stop on a northern Tanzania safari.
Food and drink
The food at Oliver’s Camp is traditional hearty safari fare and of a very high quality. Dining is on a communal ‘dinner party style’ basis and the excellent camp hosts ensure meals are both tasty and enjoyable.
Families
Oliver’s Camp accepts children aged six years and above. There's a large family tent available that sleeps up to four as well as a further triple tent.
Facilities and activities
Activities from the camp include game drives, night drives, walking safaris and fly-camping. We recommend pre-booking the walking and fly-camping as these may incur an additional charge.
