Ishasha Wilderness Camp is an excellent base for exploring this southern region of Queen Elizabeth National Park, which is renowned for its tree-climbing lion.
There are six luxury tents which line the riverbank and all are equipped with bucket showers, chemical toilets, lights which work by solar power and kerosene lanterns for after dark.
In the evenings, there's nothing better than sitting by the campfire on the river's sandy shore, where you can often see elephant coming down to drink on the other side of the river, and hippo bathing in front of you. The staff are friendly and meals are arranged around guests' daily schedules, giving you maximum flexibility on your safari.
