The Angsana

Lang Co, Vietnam

An excellent value option, The Angsana offers designer style, exceptional service and a host of free activities. It's an atmospheric drive down a meandering road flanked by dense jungle to get to The Angsana, a remote hotel that overlooks a superb beach shared with just one other property.

The secluded setting means the hotel works hard to keep guests happy with excellent facilities and up to ten free activities each day. You can try your hand at snorkelling, windsurfing or kayaking, take out a jet ski or sailing boat, or play golf on the championship 18-hole course designed by Sir Nick Faldo. There's a large meandering pool, a spa and a choice of restaurants, as well as the option to eat at the Banyan Tree next door.

Families are well catered for too with a children's club and plenty of activities. If you tire of the sun and sand you can make the most of the hotel's location between the historic cities of Hue and Hoi An and take day trips to explore ancient palaces, Chinese temples and colonial shophouses.

Set in blocks around the main building, the rooms here are anything but traditional with urban, minimalist styling, plenty of high-tech gadgets and lots of space.

OUR OPINION:

Set on an expansive stretch of beach, this large resort offers plenty of opportunities for activity and exploration. Along with a modern design and excellent facilities, particularly for families, it offers smart, spacious rooms that are great value for money.

Excellent

Rooms

The 223 spacious rooms and suites are modern in design, with Asian decor and all the facilities you would expect such as air-conditioning, TV, tea and coffee facilities and a minibar with complimentary soft drinks.

Location

Located in a picturesque bay, The Angsana Lang Co sits on a wide beach with golden sand and emerald green ocean. It shares the beach with only one other hotel, its sister property, Banyan Tree Lang Co.

The location is secluded so there are no local restaurants and shops but access to plenty of facilities at both The Angsana and Banyan Tree make up for this. The hotel also has a shuttle service to both the imperial city of Hue (approximately 50 minutes’ drive) and to the UNESCO World Heritage town of Hoi An (approximately 90 minutes’ drive).

Food and drink

There are three restaurants at The Angsana Lang Co offering a variety of cuisines. Moomba is set next to the beach, serving modern Vietnamese and international cuisine including fresh seafood, while the Rice Bowl concentrates on rice dishes, the cornerstone of most Asian dishes. Market Place restaurant offers both Vietnamese and international dishes.

Moomba’s outdoor deck and open-air first floor are a relaxing spot for pre- or post-dinner drinks, while the speciality drinks at the Rice Bar are made from rice.

Guests are also welcome to use the restaurants at the resort’s sister property, the Banyan Tree, located on the same bay.

Families

The Angsana is a great choice for families with an excellent children’s club, spacious rooms and suites, and a programme of daily activities.

Facilities and activities

The Angsana boasts one of the largest pools in Southeast Asia — over 300 m (984 ft) long, it weaves around the resort, underneath the main buildings and onto the beach. The daily activity programme is updated regularly with a wide range of free daily activities such as archery, ATV rides or kayaking.

There are a number of water sport activities available at the resort including kayaking, windsurfing and wakeboarding (some of which are chargeable). On land there is a floodlit tennis court and a fitness centre as well as an 18-hole golf course designed by Sir Nick Faldo.

Spa Facilities

The Angsana has an extensive, award-winning spa with ten treatment rooms, offering a wide range of treatments and therapies including Angsana’s signature hydro-treatment in one of two Rainmist rooms.
