The Avani Victoria Falls Resort is only a ten-minute walk from the Victoria Falls. The resort is quite large with over 200 rooms that are simple but comfortable, arranged around a large lawn and extensive swimming pool. All the rooms have air-conditioning, TV, hair dryers, tea/coffee-making facilities, plus en suite bathrooms, with bath and shower.
While the corridors to the rooms are a little gloomy, the rooms themselves are jazzy and light, with vibrant African artwork and colours. The hotel itself, while large, has been cleverly designed with high ochre walls, pieces of African art, and well-polished smooth stone floors. It can provide a relaxing stay, but there is plenty going on if you wish to get involved, with traditional music and dancers performing in the evenings.
The location, close to the Falls, is the major selling point, as you can always hear them thundering in the distance, and sometimes even see the spray from the gardens. Guests can visit the Falls for free as many times as they like, and it is also possible to organise a whole host of other activities direct from the hotel.
