North of Perth in the Pilbara region, Karijini is considered to be one of the state’s most spectacular parks.
Millions of years of erosion have created jagged mountain ranges with deep dramatic gorges carved by waterfalls that plunge into pools beside scenic walkways.
At a junction of four gorges a lookout provides a striking view, best seen in the morning or late afternoon as the low light brings out the rich colors of ocher soils and shimmering spinifex plains, backed by the seemingly endless horizon.
