On arrival in Hobart, you will be transferred by private vehicle to your downtown accommodation. The remainder of the day is free to relax. Perhaps shake off the jet lag by taking the MONA ferry to David Walsh's weird and wonderful museum of modern art — a Tasmanian icon.

Today, you will take a thrilling cruise around Bruny Island, full of stunning wildlife, such as seals, seabirds, dolphins, and whales, and dramatic coastal scenery. The next stop south from here is the Antarctic, so this truly is wild Tasmania at its finest.

Drive toward the rugged west coast and the pretty town of Strahan today, near the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage Area. Continue your drive across the north of the state today to the east coast and Freycinet National Park — the scenery here is very different from its west coast counterparts. The rest of the day is at leisure to explore this wild coastline and some fantastic east coast wineries.

Drive back to Hobart today. You may be interested in breaking the journey in the historical village of Richmond or visiting the wild Maria Island, known locally as Australia's Noah's Ark. Return your hire car at the airport before boarding your onward flight.
