Set facing the Okavango Delta’s sweeping floodplains and lagoons, Xaranna is a beautiful tented camp with an exclusive feel and an air of romance. Decorated in delicate creams, grays, pastel pinks and greens, the camp takes its design from the water lilies that dot the Delta’s waterways.
There are just nine luxurious safari tents, ensuring a highly personal, intimate stay. Each tent has its own lounge area, plunge pool and shaded sala with loungers facing the nearby lagoon — an excellent spot for birdwatching or seeing hippo and elephant soaking in the water. The en suite bathrooms have both indoor and outdoor showers and a bathtub.
The camp’s open-plan main area offers plenty of sofa-strewn spaces in which to relax and is decorated with hippo ornaments, candles and pastel-shaded cushions. You can enjoy freshly prepared meals out on the deck or around the campfire in the boma area, with individual tables giving you an extra bit of privacy that’s not found in many other camps.
Staying here, you can change the pace of your safari to focus more on relaxation. But, there are still many activities to enjoy, including day and night-time game drives, walking safaris, horseback safaris and mokoro trips.
Xaranna is a luxurious camp with beautiful rooms and a peaceful location overlooking the floodplains. We find it makes a good place to stay at the end of your safari, when you can enjoy a change of pace and relax a little.

Rooms
The nine tents are set apart from each other facing the floodplains. Inside, washed, bleached wood and subtle pastel shades are used to create a light, airy space, and there’s a four-poster bed facing the sliding doors. Each tent has a romantic sala for alfresco midday siestas, while the en suite bathroom has an indoor bathtub and a large outdoor shower. Here, you can begin each day by awakening to the sounds of the Delta and watching the sunrise from your deck.
Location
The camp’s situated in the southern plains of the Okavango Delta, within the private Xudum Concession. This area of open floodplains, snaking water channels and crystal-clear lagoons attracts a wealth of wildlife, including red lechwe, elephant, hippo, giraffe and big cats, as well as more than 250 bird species, among them the rare Pel's fishing owl and the endangered wattled crane.
Food and drink
Meals are freshly prepared by the camp’s chefs and served either in the open-sided dining room or out in the boma area beside a roaring fire. Tables are set out individually, giving you more privacy and flexibility than most other camps in Botswana, where meals tend to be eaten communally. Drinks are readily available throughout your stay.
Families
Children of all ages are welcome at Xaranna. The dedicated WILDChild program runs activities designed for younger guests, and a childminding service is available.
Facilities and activities
During your stay at Xaranna, you can enjoy a mixture of walking safaris and game drives. Being on a private concession means vehicles can go off-road in search of wildlife, and your drives can last into the night, giving you a chance to see nocturnal animals such as civet, wild cats, owls and big cats hunting under cover of darkness. You can also enjoy mokoro trips at any time of year if water levels allow. Horseback safaris and scenic helicopter trips can also be arranged from camp.
