Located in a converted 18th-century townhouse, Clarance Hotel is a stylish boutique hotel that’s a brief stroll away from the sights, shops, and eateries of Lille’s old town. Arrive through a discrete courtyard entrance to find an interior that’s airy and elegant, combining 18th-century classical touches with a modern style and comforts. Each of the 19 rooms is individually decorated, but they all include an excerpt from the poetry of Baudelaire (the owner is a passionate devotee).
The hotel is also home to La Table, a Michelin-starred restaurant that serves a seasonal menu featuring seafood. You can also take advantage of the classic library or schedule an in-room massage.
OUR OPINION:
From the elegant decor and luxe atmosphere to the central location and Michelin-starred restaurant, we think this is the best hotel for visiting Lille.
There are just 19 rooms, each with its own theme and unique decor. They all share a few characteristics, however — a bright-white palette, bold accents, and a combination of 18th-century elegance with modern comforts and style. They also all have a quote by Baudelaire.
You can choose from Comfort or Privilege rooms, or opt for the more spacious Junior suites, which have a sitting area and room for a second bed for a child. The Clarance Suite offers even more space, as well as a private staircase.
