Hôtel Reine Mathilde

Hôtel Reine Mathilde

Bayeux, France

A modern hotel yet full of traditional Norman touches, Hôtel Reine Mathilde is a welcoming introduction to the region. Located squarely in the heart of Bayeux, off one of the main cobbled shopping streets and just round the corner from Notre-Dame Cathedral, Reine Mathilde is ideally positioned for exploring the town. The World War II beaches are also easily accessible by car.

Rooms are divided between two buildings: Reine Mathilde, the main house, and Maison de Mathilde across the road and tucked down a quiet side street. Most rooms are large and decorated in relaxing neutral tones. Some offer views of Notre-Dame Cathedral while others overlook the Aure River flowing through Bayeux.

Mathilde’s Le Garde Manger restaurant is open all day and their simple menu offers an assortment of classic regional dishes, served either in the dining room or on the terrace with views of the cathedral.

OUR OPINION:

We love this hotel for its simplicity of style (in keeping with Norman traditions), its friendly service and spacious modern rooms. Hôtel Reine Mathilde also boasts an enviable location in the heart of Bayeux, just a short walk from the cathedral.

Hôtel Reine Mathilde is ideally situated in Bayeux, with Notre-Dame Cathedral and the Bayeux Tapestry just a five-minute walk away, and Omaha Beach less than a half hour’s drive away.
