This tiny private island resort offers you a real Robinson Crusoe feel while providing all the comforts you need for an idyllic stay.
The nine bungalows are dotted around the edge of the sandy motu and in the center tall coconut palms shade the grassy interior. Although, the accommodation is relatively simple, Vahine Island is truly unspoilt and remote with a delightful and rustic Polynesian charm. Peaceful and secluded, it has a very relaxed atmosphere; guests walk around barefoot and the small size means everyone knows you and the friendly staff can offer a very personalized service and offers a charming and unique island experience.
A wonderfully relaxing and intimate resort that is off the beaten track, this is a real island escape with a personal touch. Whilst the accommodation may be modest it offers high levels of hospitality and service.

Rooms
There are only nine bungalows on Vahine Island, each with a simple, authentically Polynesian style that are made with local woods and materials. Despite their rustic and traditional feel, they do also offer modern comforts such as a king-sized bed, air-conditioning, ceiling fan, tea/coffee facilities and a safe. In the beach bungalows, you can relax in your hammock on your outdoor deck that overlooks the lagoon and the turquoise blue waters, or in the overwater bungalows you can hop right into the water from your deck for a snorkel.
Location
Vahine Island has a secluded location, 30 minutes by boat from Raiatea and just off the northeastern coral reef surrounding Taha’a. Motu Tu Vahine (Island of Women) is a paradise, private island of 23 acres, in the middle of the turquoise lagoon of Taha'a, surrounded by white sand beaches.
Food and drink
This resort is a foodie's paradise, renowned for its exquisite food. The chef prepares dishes with a mix of French Polynesian and Mediterranean flavors and thanks to the small size of the hotel is happy to cater to guests' needs if something special is required (please let your specialist know in advance).
Families
Although this resort is largely aimed at couples looking for a romantic island getaway, the island feels very safe and is surrounded by shallow waters and the feedback we have received from clients with families has applauded the efforts of the staff to accommodate families.
Facilities and activities
For most guests, a visit to Vahine is all about the relaxation, but there's a range of free activities at your disposal, including the use of kayaks, paddleboards, snorkeling equipment and outrigger canoes. There isn't a spa on the island, but you can arrange to have a massage on the terrace of your room.
Diving
The lagoon between Raiatea and Taha'a is a great spot for diving. With over 20 diving sites there is something for everyone from drift dives, drop offs, pinnacles for the advanced diver also caves and coral canyons with beautiful black, yellow and purple coral walls. Raiatea even has a wonderful wreck dive — a three-masted ship called Nordby that sunk in 1900. Diving excursions can be arranged by the hotel. In July–November you have the possibility of seeing humpback whales, whilst July–September you have possibility of seeing manta rays. Diving excursions can be arranged by the hotel.
Spa Facilities
There is no spa on the island, however massages on the terrace of your room can be arranged.
