Approximately one hour from Ubud lies the active volcano of Mount Batur. The volcano has a spectacular setting within a large ancient caldera next to a lake and hot springs. Over time, several craters have formed on the volcano. Today, you will trek to one of the lower craters, which provides panoramic views of the caldera and sometimes emits steam and gases from small vents in the crater wall. As the sun sets, you will be served eggs cooked in the soil beneath you before returning to Ubud. We can provide treks to the highest crater on the volcano for more active clients.
-
Today, you will transfer to the peaceful highlands village of Munduk, an area off the main tourist trail renowned for its views, walking trails, and waterfalls. On route to Munduk, you will stop for a cycle ride through the terraces of rice fields at Jatiluwih, which have been preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
