A former Benedictine monastery, the Belmond Hotel Splendido is perched gracefully on the hillside overlooking the picturesque town and bay of Portofino below.

Within its terraced grounds you鈥檒l find a heated saltwater swimming pool, a tennis court and a well-equipped gym. The highlight is the La Terrazza Restaurant, which has sweeping views down to the sea and Portofino. Guests are also able to enjoy the facilities of the Belmond Splendido Mare, a charming annex right on the seafront in Portofino鈥檚 main square.

Rooms

The rooms at the Belmond Hotel Splendido are timelessly elegant and sumptuously furnished. The decor is classic but refined and the materials and fabrics are all of the highest quality. The floors are either marble or parquet and many rooms boast hand-painted frescoes. Many of the rooms to the front of the property also have their own terrace or balcony.

Location

A walk into Portofino takes around 20 minutes. Alternatively, there鈥檚 a complimentary shuttle service into town, a journey of around five minutes. From the heart of the town it鈥檚 easy to take one of the public ferries to explore the coastline, including Santa Margherita to the north and the beautifully secluded San Fruttuoso Abbey to the west.

Food and drink

The Terrazza Restaurant serves breakfast outside on the terrace or in the light and airy dining room. A gourmet menu is on offer for lunch and dinner. A piano bar with live music is also available every evening. Alternatively, you can dine at the Chuflay Restaurant attached to the Belmond Splendido Mare and in the heart of Portofino鈥檚 main square.
