Rooms

Like many of the hotels in Matera which take advantage of the caves in the sassi, each room at Sant'Angelo - Le Residenze is unique. The natural architecture of the caves is used throughout the rooms creating an atmospheric blending of modern style with ancient rock. Many rooms have ceilings composed of the rough stone and display rocky features throughout different areas of the room. The style of the rooms however is more contemporary. Smooth, clean cut lines in white and wood contrast the natural curves of the stone. Plush pillows and linens top inviting beds, and bathrooms are all outfitted with modern fixtures.

Location

In the heart of the ancient Sassi of Matera, Sant'Angelo - Le Residenze benefits from the ancient cave setting of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. The impressive Church of San Pietro Cavoso is just around the corner, and the views over the city of Matera from the hotel are stunning.

Food and drink

There is a restaurant in the hotel located in a characterful dining room with natural cave ceiling. Cuisine focuses on fresh ingredients. Breakfast in the mornings consists of a buffet spread which guests can fill up on for the day. The real highlight however is the terrace bar where guests can enjoy a drink overlooking the beautiful façade of the Church of San Pietro Cavoso.
