Naples has existed in some form since the time of the Greeks, and for hundreds of years it was an independent kingdom with its own royal families. Today, the historical layers of the city are visible everywhere, and gaining a better understanding of these historical monuments is helpful in understanding this unique city as a whole.
While the exact itinerary of the tour can be flexible, you’ll see the massive, architecturally impressive Piazza Plebiscito. Here you'll find the palace of the Bourbon kings of Naples, as well as the St Francis of Paola Church with its neo-classic façade and impressive dome. Next to the piazza is Naples’ opera house, the Teatro di San Carlo, which holds the designation as the oldest opera house in the world continuously in use.
Finally, you'll enter the Cappella Sansevero and its museum, where you'll be given a guided tour and can visit Giuseppe Sanmartino’s marble statue, 'The Veiled Christ', regarded as a sculptural masterpiece.
