Originally opened in 1954, Half Moon’s façade is an elegant hybrid of Georgian-style arches and whitewashed pillars combined with locally handcrafted woodwork. Walk through the reception area, where you’ll see black-and-white photos of previous celebrity guests, and you’ll find a bar and restaurant overlooking the sunlit Caribbean.
The hotel offers a wide range of amenities, including well-stocked stables, Fern Tree Spa, a 3 km (2 mile) stretch of private beachfront, and an 18-hole golf course. Additionally, you’ll find four swimming pools, a dedicated children’s village, and plenty of family activities.
The hotel, which is all inclusive, offers a variety of suites, cottages and villas for you to choose from, all decorated in a traditional Caribbean style, with dark wood, crisp white beddings and walls and the occasional splash of tropical print.
We think that Half Moon is an excellent option for those who want to relax in the comfort of an all-inclusive resort and take advantage of the plethora of facilities and activities.

Rooms
There are 210 elegant rooms and suites, and 27 villas spread across the three areas: Eclipse, Founders Cove and Rose Hall Villas. Stretched out along the expansive beachfront, most of the rooms have views over the glimmering sea.
They all share a traditional Caribbean style that combines natural wood furniture with cool white and a splash of tropical prints. The generously sized marble bathrooms are equipped with toiletries from Fern Spa and have rainfall showers and whirlpool tubs. Every room includes Wi-Fi, TV and air conditioning with the thoughtful addition of insect repellent and ceiling fans — a necessity in the Caribbean.Â
Location
Nestled in a sprawling estate, Half Moon is located in Rose Hall, an expansive suburb that’s set apart from Montego Bay. The location offers seclusion and quiet, but does mean you’ll need to drive to explore the island’s inland attractions, such as Dunn’s River Falls.
Food and drink
You’ll find plenty of restaurants, from the open-air Seagrape Terrace where a buffet style breakfast with continental options is served, to the Italian Il Giardino. A complimentary shuttle service runs to Sugar Mill, set within a charmingly restored sugar mill and serving an award-winning international cuisine, made with Jamaican ingredients.
Private dining is a sumptuous option, or you might opt for a barbecue on Sunrise Beach. With ten bars and cafés to choose from, you can sip your way through coffees, rums and cocktails that reflect the essence of the island.
Families
Families with children between three and 12 can take advantage of the Anancy Children's Village, while a nanny service is available for younger children. Seagrape Terrace offers a children’s menu, and you can opt for interconnecting rooms and extra beds.
Facilities and activities
You could easily while away your time here exploring the hotel’s 400 acres of manicured grounds and three beaches. However, you can also take advantage of the yoga classes, spa treatments, 18-hole golf course, or the multiple pools, or indulge in some water sports and sailing. If you want to go for a ride on the beach, you can visit the Equestrian Centre, where you can also take polo lessons or go swimming with the horses. Additionally, there’s a state-of-the-art, fully equipped gym with an Olympic-sized lap pool, tennis courts and a spin studio.
Accessibility
One suite at Half Moon is suitable for guests with disabilities, adapted to include an open shower with a grab bar, shower chair and toilet, as well as ramps.
