On arrival in Antananarivo (Tana), you will be met and assisted with currency exchange before being driven to your hotel in central Tana.
-
Today, you will be met by your driver and guide, who will collect you from your hotel and drive you through the countryside from Tana to Andasibe. Here, you will spend the next few days exploring the rainforest, looking for the indri, the largest of the lemurs.
-
You will have an English-speaking guide for your time in Andasibe. He will take you on a forest walk in the Andasibe National Park to search for the indris. In the afternoon you may wish to enjoy a further walk in the park or go to the Mantadia National Park to explore. After dark, you can enjoy a night walk along the road parallel to the park, where you will often get some good sightings of chameleons as well as lemurs.
-
Today you have the opportunity to head back into Andasibe with your guide. There are a number of different walks you can take so there is no danger of repeating yourself.
-
After breakfast, your guide will drive you back toward Tana and onto Antsirabe, where you will overnight. Antsirabe is a small market town which you will have the chance to explore should you wish. It offers a great insight into Malagasy life as you will have the chance to see craftsmen going about their work.
-
Today, you will leave Antsirabe and continue your journey down to Ranomafana, where you will spend the next couple of nights. En route, you may like to stop off at Ambositra for lunch and visit the Zafimaniry wood carvings. Arriving in the afternoon you can relax at your lodge in Ranomafana National Park or enjoy a guided walk to start exploring.
-
Today, you will have guided walks in Ranomafana, where you will have the chance to see many lemurs and look for smaller creatures, such as chameleons and frogs.
-
This morning, you will start early as you drive down to Isalo, where you will spend the next three nights. Along the way, you will have the chance to stop and take photographs of the stunning scenery. You may also like to stop off at Anja Park where you will have the chance to see some ring-tailed lemurs. You will then arrive in Isalo National Park, where you will spend the next few nights, hopefully in time to watch the sunset through La Fenetre — a dramatic window-like hole in the rock.
-
A full day of guided walking in the park will allow you to explore one of Madagascar's most diverse parks today. Very different to the lush tropical vegetation in the east, Isalo's attraction is its vast rolling plains broken up with mountains.
-
Enjoy more activities in Isalo National Park today.
-
Today, you will leave Isalo and head to Tulear. On the way, you will walk in a small reserve of dry deciduous forest called Zombitse. Once in Tulear, you can relax at your hotel this evening.
-
You will be able to enjoy the nearby Arboretum, which has some lovely examples of the diverse flora and fauna found in south Madagascar. This afternoon, you can relax in the lovely surroundings of your hotel.
-
This morning, you will be taken to Tulear Airport in time for your flight back to Tana. In the capital, you may wish to take some time to wander the streets and markets.
