  • On arrival in Mandalay you will be met and transferred to your hotel.

  • A fascinating and diverse day spent discovering Mandalay's various sights and attractions. At the end of the day you will be taken up to Mandalay Hill for a view over the surrounding plains at sunset.

  • From Mandalay, you will be driven east to Pyin Oo Lwin, where you can enjoy a stroll around the botanical gardens in this former British Hill Station.

Stay at Hotel Pyin Oo Lwin
  • From Pyin Oo Lwin, you head back down to Mandalay. This afternoon, you will board a small boat which will head upriver to the sleepy village of Mingun, chosen by King Bodawpaya as the intended site for the largest pagoda in the world. On your way back to Mandalay, enjoy the sunset as you cruise back.

  • Visit the ancient capitals of Inwa and Amarapura today.

  • Leaving Mandalay you will travel via the picturesque Sagaing Hills to Monywa. On arrival visit Shwe Ba Hill and the Po Win temple complex.

  • This morning, you travel to the town of Pakokku and board a local boat for your journey downstream to Bagan.

  • Spend the day exploring the temples of Bagan with your knowledgeable guide.

  • Take a short flight to Heho this morning, and on arrival, you will be collected from the airport and transferred to Pindaya, where you will stay in the charming Pindaya Inle Inn. Spend the afternoon exploring the local area and enjoy lunch with a Danu family in their home.

  • Accompanied by your guide and porter, you will head into the hills around Pindaya to visit local Palaung and Danu villages. Spend the night in a local monastery.

  • After a hearty breakfast, continue your trek, returning to Pindaya in time for lunch. Here you can enjoy lunch at a local restaurant before transferring to Inle Lake by road.

  • Spend the day enjoying some wonderful trekking through the countryside.

  • From Inle Lake you will travel by car to Hmaw Be Bridge (two hours) before boarding a local boat south to Sagar (one hour). The whole journey will take four hours and you can stop off at points of interest along the way.

  • Today, you have a full day with your Audley guide to explore the local area, including time at the Tha Hauk Pagoda Complex. The main reason to travel this far south of the lake is to have a comfortable off-beaten-track experience where fewer travelers explore.

  • Head back north by car directly to the airport, catching glimpses of the lake as you drive by. A short flight takes you to the former colonial capital, Yangon. In the afternoon, visit the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda at dusk, as locals come to give offerings to the spirits. You then head to 19th Street to enjoy a cold drink in this bustling thoroughfare.

  • From your centrally located hotel you will have the opportunity to explore Yangon on foot, visiting many of the city's grand colonial buildings.

  • This morning you will be transferred to the airport in time for your onward flight.
