A tranquil, jasmine-perfumed hamlet of sun-baked stone buildings linked by cobbled pathways, La Residencia is one of the most exclusive hotels on the island. Yet it exudes a true sense of place, echoing the design of the surrounding hilltop villages.
At every corner is a cultural reminder of Mallorcan life. You’ll see it in the stepped stone terraces of olive trees and the small herd of resident donkeys, through to the infusion of native herbs used in the spa treatments and the local artwork on display.
Close to the dramatic northwestern coastline, and within easy walking distance of the mountainside village of Deià, the hotel has a boutique, artistic air, is assuredly family-friendly, and offers a multitude of alfresco Mediterranean dining options. The two main pools take full advantage of the setting, with expansive views across the surrounding Serra de Tramuntana mountain range.
Rooms have high-beamed ceilings and are finished with original artwork and a bespoke design of Mallorcan furnishings. Many are housed in individual stone buildings with private pools, and there’s a three-bedroom villa in the nearby village, for larger groups.
The hotel is a haven of Mallorcan artistry, we love the headily scented stone pathways and mountain backdrop. The level of service is top-end, and the spa is a serene sanctuary.
