Hotel Los Agustinos

Hotel Los Agustinos

La Rioja, Spain

Housed in a former monastery dating back to 1373, Hotel Los Agustinos has, at various points, served as a monastery, prison and hospital. Today, the ancient walls house a comfortable, modern hotel with beautiful handsome historic features in the heart of La Rioja.

All of the 62 rooms have been renovated to ensure modern standards of comfort with light and simple decor and soft, velvet bedspreads. They also feature air conditioning, minibars and complimentary Wi-Fi. Views from the shuttered windows look out onto the medieval town of Haro.

The corridors leading to the rooms overlook the former cloisters, now covered by a towering glass roof. Below it is the hotel鈥檚 El Claustro restaurant which serves a varied menu of Spanish classics, from simple tapas and lighter fare to more elaborate tasting menus and fine dining dishes. Thanks to its location in the heart of the Rioja region, the hotel offers an impressive selection of fine local wines. It is also easy to walk into the town of Haro and take advantage of the many bars, restaurants, bodegas and tasting rooms available in the town's winding, medieval streets.

OUR OPINION:

A historic and characterful property, we highly recommend Los Agustinos as a base for exploring the surrounding Rioja wine region. We particularly like the restaurant set in the original monastery cloisters.
