Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona

Majestic Hotel & Spa Barcelona

Barcelona, Spain

A Barcelona institution, the Majestic Hotel & Spa has been a part of the city since 1918 and still boasts its original neoclassical façade. It is flanked by high-end shops on the Passeig de Gràcia in the heart of the Eixample district and is as grand and sophisticated as its surroundings. The marble lobby is filled with sumptuous black leather couches and leads through to an elegant café known for its Champagne Fashion Tea which features signature cakes created by designers such as Bulgari and Jimmy Choo.

All 272 rooms balance quality and comfort with fine linens, soft fabric panels on the walls, muted tones and a signature scent designed for the hotel by Atelier Cologne. Views look out over the inner courtyard or surrounding streets.

A particular highlight is the hotel’s rooftop pool and Dolce Vitae bar which offers panoramic views across the city. There is also a spa where you can enjoy beauty and wellness treatments along with a sauna.

OUR OPINION:

One of L’Eixample’s most elegant and sophisticated hotels, we find the roof terrace to be a glorious spot to relax with a cocktail and soak up the atmosphere.

Rooms

Care has been taken to balance style and comfort in the rooms with carefully chosen furnishings, soft linens in pleasing neutral tones, and fabric panels on the walls to help keep rooms quiet. The modern bathrooms feature marble baths with rain showers and provide signature scents and bath products from Atelier Cologne. Additionally, all rooms offer TVs, complimentary Wi-Fi and Nespresso machines. Some rooms also boast small balconies overlooking the street. The corner suites with large wrap-around balconies overlooking the Passeig de Gràcia are a particular highlight.

Location

The hotel is right in the middle of the lively Passeig de Gràcia, surrounded by high-end designer shops such as Dior and Gucci. In less than five minutes you can walk to two of Gaudí’s architectural marvels, Casa Milà and Casa Batlló, and in about 20 you can reach the top of Barcelona’s vibrant pedestrian thoroughfare, La Rambla and the labyrinthine Gothic Quarter.

Food and drink

A lavish buffet breakfast is served in a market style with omelets and eggs made to order and brought to your table. On weekends, a champagne brunch is offered with a rotating menu of Spanish specialties, drawing not only hotel guests but locals as well, so it is best to book in advance. During the week the hotel hosts an afternoon ‘fashion tea’, serving tea and champagne along with pastries designed by luxury fashion houses, such as eclairs from Bulgari and Jimmy Choo. Altogether the hotel offers five different options for dining, from fine dining to a relaxed rooftop bar, all overseen by Michelin-starred chef Nandu Jubany.

Families

Several interconnecting and adjoining rooms are available for families.

Facilities and activities

The Majestic Spa provides a range of therapeutic and wellness treatments in addition to private hydrotherapy sessions, as well as manicures, pedicures and makeup application. There is also a private sauna which guests may book in advance and use free of charge.
