T贸tem Madrid

T贸tem Madrid

Madrid, Spain

Located in Madrid’s fashionable Salamanca district, just a ten-minute walk from El Retiro Park and surrounded by designer shops, the Tótem offers a sophisticated base from which to explore. Passing through the chic, modern lobby you’ll find a decadently-styled lounge bar with deep teal sofas, wooden floors, accent wallpaper and vintage-inspired artwork.

By contrast, the adjacent restaurant is light and airy with pale woods and Scandinavian-style furniture set by large windows overlooking the street. The à la carte breakfast offers diverse choices and the Mediterranean dishes served later in the day have a distinctly international influence.

The hotel is set in an elegant 19th-century building and its original, sweeping wooden staircase has been restored and leads up to the 64 rooms which are linked by soft gray corridors. The rooms feature stylish, pared-back design with white linens, wooden floors, mid-century-style furniture and large windows. Views look out over the street or a quiet, internal courtyard.

The hotel also has a small gym and offers easy access to Madrid's most fashionable shopping.

OUR OPINION:

We love the stylish T贸tem Madrid for its sophisticated interior design and stately location. The hotel is set in an area of wide streets lined by grand 19th-century buildings that is popular with the most fashionable madrile帽os.

Rooms

Rooms are decorated in soft gray and white tones, illuminated by plenty of natural light from windows looking onto either the courtyard or Calle de Hermosilla. Understated but refined, each room also has a small sofa area to relax in, as well as standard amenities like smart TVs, air conditioning and free Wi-Fi. Bathrooms provide comfy robes and slippers and all feature walk-in rain showers, while attic rooms also have deep bathtubs.

Location

Situated in the heart of the stylish Salamanca district, the hotel sits among some of the city鈥檚 best streets for gourmet food and high-end shopping. Though outside of the heart of the city, it鈥檚 only a ten-minute walk to El Retiro Park, while the Museo del Prado is about 25 minutes away on foot.

Food and drink

The hotel pays tribute to the Lost Generation with its main restaurant and bar, Hermosos y Malditos, named for the Spanish translation of F. Scott Fitzgerald鈥檚 book The Beautiful and Damned. Breakfast is served 脿 la carte each morning in Hermosos restaurant and on Sundays you can enjoy a special brunch menu. Lunch and dinner at Hermosos come from a loosely Mediterranean menu with an international influence, while cocktails at the Malditos bar have a decidedly New York twist.

Facilities and activities

The hotel has a small gym.
