Rongbuk Monastery, at an altitude of 5,000 m the highest in the world, is dedicated to the Guru Padmasambhava. The monastery is a pleasant place to visit but of course the major attraction is the stunning scenery all around, and the view of the world's highest mountain's north face. The views are simply spectacular!
You can walk to base camp from here, and take tea in the tea tent where you may meet some hopeful climbers.
Please note that at 5,200 m this area is extremely cold and you must take adequate clothing.
