Originally a military society founded after WWI to commemorate fallen soldiers of the Royal Scots regiment, The Royal Scots Club is today an elite association whose hotel accommodates both members and non-members alike. Located on a quiet Georgian crescent in the heart of Edinburgh’s New Town, the property encompasses three adjacent townhouses and is just a five- to ten-minute walk from Princes Street. The rooms are individually-styled, but decor tends to be fairly simple, with military pictures or portraits adorning the walls. Dining can be in either the informal public lounge bar, which offers lunch, afternoon tea and light bites in the evening, or in the formal restaurant.
The sense of history here is fantastic and we love the central yet quiet location.

Rooms
Each of the 28 rooms is dedicated to a member of the Royal Scots military regiment, giving the hotel a real sense of history. The en suite rooms are simply furnished and the decor can seem a little dated in places but everything is well-maintained, clean and comfortable. Blues, grays and russet hues prevail, with tartan patterns evident without being overwhelming. Superior rooms are the same size as executive rooms, but have a slightly better view. All rooms feature a TV, complimentary Wi-Fi and tea and coffee making facilities.
Location
Although just a five- to ten-minute walk from the shops and museums of Princes Street, The Royal Scots Club is situated in a quiet, residential Georgian crescent. The small independent shops and cafés in the immediate vicinity are excellent, and the Royal Mile is only a 15-minute walk from the hotel.
Food and drink
The main restaurant is only open to non-members for breakfast, afternoon tea and dinner, although the informal public lounge bar serves light meals throughout the day. As the hotel is within close proximity to the central areas of Edinburgh, a wide selection of excellent restaurants and cafés are within easy walking distance, and the concierge staff will be happy to recommend their favorites.
