There are a variety of dives that you can do on Pemba's beautiful reefs. You can dive around the nearby Misali Island or the Fundu chefs will prepare a picnic lunch for you and you can go and dive on the reefs beyond Misali and enjoy lunch on Misali afterwards.
A conservation area was set up around Misali Island in 1998 following El Niño which had a bleaching effect on corals elsewhere in the Indian Ocean. Misali retained its dense coral cover and coupled with its dramatic drop-off reefs have made it a fantastic location for diving. It has twice the number of coral genera found elsewhere in Tanzania and is home to more than 300 species of fish.
