Responsible Choice
Situated within walking distance of Victoria Falls, Ilala Lodge radiates an elegance from a bygone age, but with all modern conveniences.
There are lots of peaceful areas where you can sit and relax after exploring the area, including a wide veranda that wraps around the front of the hotel, providing a shady area looking out across the pretty garden toward the falls. Here, you can listen to the sound of cascading water and look out for wildlife, with the lodge's position on the border of the Victoria Falls National Park meaning that animals such as impala and warthog often wander happily through the grounds, grazing on the lawns.
There's also a pool with a thatched bar where you can cool off in the heat of the day, and a restaurant offering peaceful views across the grounds.
Ilala is a peaceful, comfortable lodge and an ideal place to stay while visiting the falls.

Rooms
The rooms are spread across two floors. All en suite, they each have patio doors leading to either a balcony or terrace. Clean and airy, with crisp linen, dark woods and neutral colors, the rooms are very comfortable. Facilities in each room include air conditioning, overhead fans, a satellite TV and tea/coffee making facilities, with both a bathtub and a shower included in the en suite bathrooms.
Location
Ilala Lodge enjoys a secluded and peaceful location, close to the center of Victoria Falls town. It's the nearest hotel to the falls on the Zimbabwe side, and from the gardens you can see the spray and hear the roar of the water.
Food and drink
Enjoy a meal at The Palm Restaurant during your stay. It serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, and offers a comprehensive wine list and cocktails. Food is freshly prepared and of a high quality; evident in the fact that the restaurant is a popular eating spot for guests staying elsewhere in town. As the hotel is a short walk from some of the town's other restaurants, eating out elsewhere is also an easy option. However, dining outside under the African night sky, amidst the sound of the crashing falls, makes for a romantic evening to be remembered.
Families
Rooms located on the first floor of Ilala Lodge have balcony balustrades that could present a hazard to young children; therefore, families will be accommodated in ground floor rooms.
Facilities and activities
During your stay, take a trip on the lodge's cruise boat, Ra-Ikane. Its decor reflects a bygone era of adventure and discovery in Africa. Paying tribute to Ra-Ikane, who was one of the guides who first led David Livingstone to the Victoria Falls, the cruise boat is for the exclusive use of visitors to the lodge. Keep your camera handy, as game can often be spotted from the water.
The lodge has a swimming pool and offers a number of relaxing spa treatments. Wi-Fi access is also available.
Environmental and social responsibility
Ilala Lodge actively strives to use sustainable practices including using solar power, sustainable waste management, and an extensive recycling system. More widely, the property is an active member of the Victoria Falls Recycling Project, and staff participate in monthly community clean up initiatives. The hotel also supports a humanitarian foundation, which raises funds to nurture schools and local elderly communities.
