This very special property is located on the shores of the beautiful Moraine Lake, nestled in a quiet valley within the Canadian Rocky Mountains. The unique location provides you with the opportunity to really get away from it all and enjoy the breath-taking scenery and wildlife that surrounds the lodge.
When visitors have gone home and the gates to the lake close, guests are privileged to have this pristine location all to themselves for a true sense of being at one with nature. The lodge is also home to one of the top restaurants in Banff National Park, as well as a library where you can curl up with a book whilst enjoying complimentary afternoon tea. Whether your trip focuses on hiking through the national park or simply relaxing in a romantic location, the lodge makes an excellent escape from the daily grind.
The stunning lakeside setting naturally attracts many visitors, so it can get fairly busy at the lodge during the peak summer season. However, Moraine Lake Lodge remains one of the best of the Rockies' lakeside lodges due to its idyllic location and well-respected restaurant.

Rooms
In order to encourage a truly tranquil experience, there are no phones and TVs in the rooms (there is Wi-Fi access), allowing you to detox from technology and focus on appreciating your impressive natural surroundings. The log cabin-style rooms provide a cosy, inviting ambience and offer hand-crafted log furniture, private outdoor decks, luxurious down duvets, fine wool rich blankets and pillows in natural colours. They also have beautifully appointed en suite bathrooms with soaker tubs and Aveda Spa products, while some have the benefit of a log burning fireplace — the perfect greeting after spending the day outdoors.
Location
This classic lodge is situated on the shores of Moraine Lake, just 15 minutes from Lake Louise within Banff National Park.
Food and drink
The Walter Wilcox Dining Room is the lodge's main on site restaurant. It has an excellent reputation locally, providing some of the best cuisine in Banff National Park. The restaurant itself looks out onto the striking Moraine Lake, providing an idyllic and romantic setting. The Snowshoe Café offers a more casual dining option, providing hot and cold meals, drinks and snacks. Lunch boxes can be provided on request to take on your hikes, and every afternoon between 3pm and 5pm you can enjoy complimentary afternoon tea and coffee in the library.
Honeymooners
The lodge has a Honeymoon Suite featuring a king size bed, Jacuzzi bathtub, exposed beams and a private balcony overlooking the lake and the Tower of Babel.
Facilities and activities
There are regular naturalist presentations in the library to inform guests about the unique history and wildlife in Banff National Park. A number of activities are offered during your stay, including guided hikes and canoe hire for exploring the lake.
Environmental and social responsibility
The property generates its own power. It also filters and treats its own glacier-fed water and transports all waste out of the area in order to preserve the local environment.
