El Pangue Observatory is located ten miles to the south of Vicuña, in the middle of the Elqui Valley, just an hour and a half from La Serena. This is a unique place, the only human constructions visible from El Pangue are the scientific observatories Cerro Tololo and Gemini.
The visit to this observatory begins with an introductory talk made by one of the observatory guides. The talks are very clear and instructive and they only work with small groups in order to make everyone understand and participate in a better way. Group sizes are limited to just 12 people ensuring an intimate experience, although it may be conducted in both English and Spanish. The tour includes pick up and drop offs from your hotel in the Elqui Valley and typically takes place between 9pm and midnight.
