Located high on the hillside above Taormina by the iconic Madonna della Rocca Church, Villa Angela is a small and friendly boutique hotel with a wonderful atmosphere. The family run property is owned by Jim Kerr, of Simple Minds fame.

OUR OPINION:

For clients wanting unrivalled views over Taormina and across to Mount Etna and who prefer to stay away from the hustle and bustle of central Taormina, Villa Angela offers a tranquil base yet is only a short shuttle ride from the town below.

Rooms

There are 27 rooms, all with stunning views of the dramatic coastline below and Mount Etna on the horizon. Inside the decor is warm and bright, drawing on elements of traditional Sicilian style. Each room has a small terrace with sun loungers and inside the rooms have modern amenities of air conditioning, satellite TV and Wi-Fi

Location

The hotel is situated the hills above the historic centre of Taormina. On foot you can reach the centre with a 2 km (1.2 miles) walk through there are many steps involved-much better for getting down. We suggest taking the shuttle or a local taxi back up to the hotel.

Food and drink

  • Breakfast each morning 7:45am-10:30am is served on the appealing sun terrace to the front of the property and contains a range of tasty Sicilian delights.
  • Lunch menu served 12:30pm-2:30pm.
  • Snack service offered until 10pm.
  • The hotel restaurant doesn't offer a full dinner dining service, however the hotel can assist with a host of recommendations in Taormina.
