Aman Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan

Boasting the largest rooms in the city, the Aman Tokyo is the first of the uber-boutique’s venture into a city. Even the smallest Deluxe rooms are an impressive 71 square metres, making them the largest entry-level rooms in the city.

As with other Amans the world over, the Aman Tokyo has been inspired wholly from traditional practices which can be seen in the meticulous woodwork designs, sumptuous Japanese fabrics and ‘washi’ paper, cleverly intertwined with all modern furnishings and technology expected in a hotel of this standing.

OUR OPINION:

A truly beautiful, if not highly minimalist, hotel and the first of Aman's kind to be a city hotel. The service and attention to detail is superb and will suit all 'Amanjunkies' or those new to the brand alike.

OUR RATING: Opulent

Rooms

Facing the Imperial Palace Gardens, each Deluxe room flows seamlessly into an elegantly appointed living area with subtle Shoji screens made of delicate washi paper breaking up the space.

The larger Premier rooms are 80 sq m and face the Tokyo Skytree. These rooms have a similar aesthetic to that of the Deluxe rooms, but also offer a more spacious foyer and bathroom.

The Suites are all a minimum of 141 sq m and offer a sense of boundless space complete with spectacular views. As well as a beautiful living room, the Suites contain a dining table for four and a fully-equipped pantry, allowing apartment-style living in the heart of Tokyo.

The 121 sq m Corner Suites provide panoramic views and the sensation of floating above the city. Like the standard suites, each offers a separate bedroom, living-dining room, and pantry.

Finally the Aman Suites are all an impressive 157 sq m in size. Positioned in the northwest corner of the building, their lofty aspect and generous proportions impart a palpable sense of calm, complementing the tranquil views of the Imperial Palace Gardens and the Tokyo Skytree.

Location

It's perfectly located next to the Imperial Palace Gardens and within easy access to Tokyo Station and the shopping and food district of Ginza.

Food and drink

The Restaurant, as it is simply named, exudes high-class Japanese minimalism aloft Otemachi Tower with views overlooking the Imperial Palace Gardens and the city beyond. Dining is based on Italian/Adriatic influences with the finest ingredients imported from Italy. With the exceptional wealth of ingredients on offer at home, such as Hokkaido shrimp and Wagyu steak, these subtle tastes are married up with southern European produce to create a Veneto cuisine with a distinct Asian twist.

Facilities and activities

The spa, one of Tokyo's newest and best, sits high over the Tokyo skyline, offering peace and tranquillity away from the city below. There are hot spring baths, saunas, a 30 m panoramic pool and a collection of massage rooms with a variety of treatments on offer. A well-kitted gym is available to guests, and certain yoga and Pilates classes if you feel inclined too.

As with all Aman properties, there are numerous private Aman tours that can also be reserved, incorporating the local area or specific culture requests.
