Palace Hotel Tokyo

Tokyo, Japan

With an exceptional location right next to the Imperial Palace, the Palace Hotel is really central, and is just a ten-minute walk from Tokyo Station. The moat-side setting and great views over the luscious palace gardens are a rare find in this busy city, making the Palace really stand out from the crowd of luxury hotels.

The hotel oozes modernity, with its contemporary-designed hallways and rooms. Rooms have full amenities, allowing you to relax after a long day of sightseeing. The choice at breakfast is excellent, and with a great range of restaurants, you will certainly not be short of options in terms of evening dining, if you choose to eat in the hotel.

OUR OPINION:

With its super location, good-size rooms and one of only a handful of hotels in the city that have balconies, the Palace remains a strong choice for a first stay in the country.

Rooms

All of the 278 rooms at the Palace are clean and fresh with contemporary fixtures and fittings, including walk-in showers and standalone bathtubs. Our most popular room type is the deluxe with balcony adding that extra bit of rare outdoor space in the middle of this capital city. Deluxe rooms start from 45 sq m and will vary depending on club access, balcony and Imperial Palace views. The suites, starting from 75 sq m, have expansive balconies with beautiful views over Wadakura-bori moat. All have separate en suite and dining facilities too, along with the usual complimentary extras such as newspapers, shoe-shine and turndown service.

Location

Right on top of the Imperial Palace, the views from all the rooms are particularly great. There is easy access to Tokyo main train station and the shopping and restaurant district of Ginza.

Food and drink

From the ten completely different restaurants to choose from, there is quite literally something for everyone and the kitchen staff will happily cater to any special requirements. There are all-day dining options, teppanyaki, Japanese and European fine dining, tempura, and of course sushi to tempt the taste buds. Of particular note is Wadakura, noted for its high-quality kaiseki Japanese dining, with its exquisitely prepared food and signature menus all kept with elegantly crafted textured walls and fine Japanese workmanship.

Facilities and activities

In-house guests can make use of the indoor swimming pool and gym. The 'Evian' spa is well equipped with treatment rooms overlooking stunning views of the city below. Tentatively relying on Tokyo's proximity to Mount Fuji, on a clear day it is possible to see her from the spa, adding to the 'Alpine' inspired feel of the communal relaxation spaces.
