A historical building dating back to 1794 containing a small chapel, museum, inner courtyard and former home to the Casa de la Moneda (Mint House) is now home to the newest hotel in the Casa Andina Private Collection chain.
Meticulously restored after more than a century of neglect, the hotel features high vaulted ceilings, two colonial courtyards, and an elegant restaurant "Cocina Viva". The lengthy restoration unearthed numerous surprises, including original frescoes, reliefs, and even a chapel long hidden from view. There are just 41 rooms located around the two courtyards. The Senior and Imperial Suites, full of historic character, occupy the original colonial manor house, while Superior and Traditional Rooms and normal Suites are located across four floors of a newly but sensitively designed modern wing of the hotel, off the second colonial patio and with easy access to the terrace.
The hotel is beautifully illuminated at night and is in the heart of Arequipa’s historic quarter, just around the corner from the Santa Catalina Convent and only three blocks from the Plaza de Armas.
