The hotel's grounds provide a relaxing and atmospheric area through which you can wander and rooms are individually set within these grounds, surrounded by tall eucalyptus trees and the landscaped gardens that are a riot of colour all year round and attract 35 bird species.

OUR OPINION:

Our favourite property in the area, offering great accommodation and a wonderful place to rest for the night. Rooms

The 41 rooms take the form of spacious bungalows and are either semi-detached or detached. The larger bungalows used for families or as suites are duplex in layout. All bungalows come with Wi-Fi, heating, a telephone, a safe deposit box and a terrace with views over the gardens; with the ten deluxe bungalows featuring heated floors, a walk-in closet and a wood burning fireplace. The three premium bungalows boast a private terrace with Jacuzzi and two flat-screen TVs with satellite channels.

Please do note that in the hotel's Superior rooms the showers are located over the bathtubs which are accessed using quite large steps, if this is an issue please discuss the alternative options with your specialist.

Location

Hotel Sol y Luna is located around five minutes from the village of Urubamba, right in the centre of the Sacred Valley of the Incas. It enjoys a picturesque setting from which it is easy to explore the Sacred Valley. Should you wish you can just relax in the pretty grounds of the hotel, taking in the stunning scenery. Alternatively, the small village of Urubamba which has a couple of restaurants is close at hand. For those wanting to explore further, the fascinating town of Ollantaytambo is only around 25 minutes away and is one of the most historically interesting villages in the Sacred Valley.

Food and drink

Breakfast is included at the hotel with a delicious buffet that can be enjoyed every morning. In addition, the hotel has a fine dining restaurant, and a bar that provides guests with snacks and cocktails. The Killa Wasi restaurant serves traditional Peruvian cuisine, with a modern twist. The menu changes according to the season, so that the freshest ingredients are always used to offer a delicious taste of Peruvian food at its best.

The hotel also offers a series of food experiences, from dining in the hotel's wine cellar to cooking demonstrations. Should you require more information, please discuss this with your specialist.

The restaurants offer excellent food, but are a little expensive so you may wish to try an alternative in nearby Urubamba if you want to explore other dining options.

Facilities and activities

The hotel has a swimming pool (unheated), spa and its own activity centre where you can organise a聽great range of activities such as mountain biking, trekking, horse riding, wine tasting and cooking workshops. There are also daily Peruvian Paso horse displays at the Wayra terrace (12 noon until 3pm) which are complimentary if you have purchased lunch.聽Extra activities do need to be organised over 24 hours in advance, so please feel free to arrange with us or with our local representative in Cuzco before heading into the Sacred Valley.

Spa Facilities

The hotel has its own on-site spa — Yacu Wasi — which means House of Water in Quechua. The spa offers a range of treatments using local and international techniques. The hotel's sauna and small onsite gym is free to use for all guests, and classes of t'ai chi and yoga can be organised at an extra charge, at the hotel.
